Players will be able to choose a Cruiser once they achieve the rank of Lieutenant Commander 1. The Excalibur, Constitution and Vesper rely upon their high hull ratings and prefer wide, powerful weapon arcs due to their sluggish manoeuvrability compared to the Science Vessels, Light Cruisers and Escorts. However, with their large warp cores, they can provide far more power to their systems than any of these other ships, meaning their shields will recharge more quickly and their weapons will have a shorter cooldown period. Additionally, Cruisers have more Device slots than any other class in its tier.
By default, Cruisers come equipped with two Mk II Phaser Arrays and two Mk II Photon Torpedo Launchers, front and back, giving players a very wide weapons arc to compensate for their slow turn rates. However, players can also remove their photon torpedoes entirely and replace them with wide-angle phaser arrays, phaser or disruptor turrets for maximum weapons coverage.
